Mike Risko Music Kicks Off Summer with Global Make Music Day Community Festivities

25 Local Host Venues Participate in All Day Event

To kick off the summer last week Mike Risko Music brought the worldwide Make Music Day Celebration to local residents with Make Music Ossining/ Briarcliff, a community-wide all day event with free, live musical performances, festivities and opportunities for residents to make and share music. The locally coordinated event by Mike Risko Music was part of the global celebration of music making that took place in over 750 cities. Inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique, Ossining and Briarcliff were the first and only communities in Westchester that celebrated Make Music Day. The event has steadily grown with venues increasing for musical events from just 6 last year to 25 local host venues for this year’s event.

The exciting day started off at the Mike Risko Music School in Ossining with a light breakfast and morning “Jam” session with the Mike Risko Band and friends. Participants then helped the Mike Risko team “spread” music all over the community throughout the day and joined in their Flash Mob as they toured all of the venues participating in the event.

“Make Music Day was a great way to start the summer off and we were thrilled with the success of this years’ event,” said Mike Risko. “This community wide event had tripled the amount of venues and musicians participating and large audiences at each location. It was so exciting to see how happy music made the members of our community.” The global event was presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation and had members and partners from coast to coast, including Mike Risko Music, opening their doors and bringing together their communities’ celebrations of Make Music Day. By participating in Make Music Day, Mike Risko Music, was one of more than 50 U.S. communities encouraging every form of music making while community members banded together and played in free public concerts.
