Obituary: Barbara Vassallo, 67
Visiting hours for the lifelong Ossining resident will be held Monday from 4-8 am at Dorsey Funeral Home.

Barbara A. Vassallo, a lifetime resident of Ossining, died on May 18. She was 67 years old. She was born on April 28, 1952 in the old Ossining Hospital in Ossining, NY.
Barbara grew up on 8 Garden Street in Ossining, with her parents, Joseph P. Williams (predeceased) and Elizabeth (Ludwig) Williams. She graduated from Ossining High School in 1970 and then went to nursing school and became a licensed practical nurse. She spent her entire career working with geriatric patients including Bethel Nursing Home and Briarcrest Nursing Home in Ossining. She also worked at Atria in Briarcliff Manor.

On November 11, 1973 she married Frank Vassallo at St Ann’s Church in Ossining. They met when they were both volunteering at the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where they had many friends and volunteered for many years. She also served on the board of directors as secretary for OVAC. In addition to OVAC, she was a member of Columbus Lodge, where she served as secretary, and a former member of the Ossining Lions Club.
Barbara was currently working with her husband as office manager in his accounting office in Ossining.

She survived by her husband, Frank, daughters, Francine (Justin), Minadeo, Dawn (Michael) Turco, mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Williams, she was Lala to her 3 grandchildren, Oliver Turco, Joseph (JP) Turco and Ryder Minadeo.
Barbara was the kindest and most generous person who loved her family and friends. She will always be remembered as enjoying her favorite cocktail in a tall glass and telling people that she would “call them right back.” She loved going to Yankees games, spending time with her grandsons and going to her second home in Vero Beach, Fl. enjoying the sun and playing golf. She will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-8 am at Dorsey Funeral Home on Emwilton Place. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann’s Church, Ossining. The interment will follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 8 Clinton Ave Ossining, NY 10562; or the SPCA of Westchester, 590 N. State Rd., Briarcliff Manor, 10562 would be appreciated.
