Obituary: Richard “Dick” Fortunato DiRenno
Mr. DiRenno was a beloved teacher and administrator in the Ossining schools.

Richard “Dick” Fortunato DiRenno was born at home on July 4th, 1934. He was born, raised, and lived his life in Ossining, New York.
After high school, Dick became a Machinist apprentice on the NY Central railroad. Dick later attended Fordham University & SUNY New Paltz.

In the early 1950s, he was an amateur boxer.
Later noticed for his artistic talents, he pursued Art Education at SUNY New Paltz. After earning his degree, he earned a job teaching art and industrial arts for the Ossining School District. He worked for over 30 years, retiring as an assistant principal in 1990, a position he held for 22 years.

Dick spent many summers at his summer home on Shelter Island, New York with his family & often entertained many guests.
Dick was an avid reader and car buff, taking great joy in spending hours working on his MGs with his sons. He and his wife Ann devoted a great deal of time organizing functions for NYCONN. Dick and Ann also enjoyed many trips and the friendships they developed through the St. Augustine Golden Eagles.
He was happiest when helping to complete a project for his children and later for his grandchildren.
Richard was welcomed into God’s kingdom on September 26th, 2021.
His memory lives on through his wife Anna Maria (Ann) and their four children: Fortunato, his wife Barbara, and daughter Sarah Beirne (Darrell); Vincent, his wife Cheryl, and children Rick and Tiarra; Richard, his wife Suzanne, and children Devon, Victoria, Gabriella, and Vincent; Mary Engelhardt, (Dr. Martin) and sons Sean and Kyle. He is pre-deceased by his parents Fortunato DiRenno and Marie Gallo, his sister Mary, and brothers Anthony and Frank.
Richard is survived by his sister Louise Esposito.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 29th from 4-8 pm at Dorsey Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 30th at St. Augustine’s Church. Internment St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
