Ossining High School students Samara Davis and Ianca De Los Santos Rodriguez have been selected as Questbridge National College Match Finalists.

Questbridge is a scholarship program that serves as a pathway for low-income students to apply to top colleges and universities. Through the Questbridge College Match program, applicants rank their top schools from 48 partners. The applicant pool is then narrowed and students who become finalists are considered for early admission and a full, four-year scholarship to each matched school.

“I was so thrilled to become a finalist because it provides me with an opportunity to attend my top colleges without having to worry about affording a good education,” said Samara Davis.

Finalists must exhibit outstanding academic achievement and qualify financially to be considered. In 2022, just 5,613 students were selected as National College Match Finalists, out of a pool of more than 17,900 applications.

All Questbridge applicants are top-tier students, so for Samara, just becoming a finalist is an amazing honor.

“This exceptional achievement is representative of the high-quality education we provide in Ossining schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Raymond Sanchez. “With such an impressive academic profile, these young scholars have certainly earned this honor.”

With a combined average GPA of 3.92, a class rank in the top 10%, and a score above 1290 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT, both Samara and Ianca placed in the top spots to qualify as finalists.

“I'm extremely grateful to have been chosen as a finalist because this means holding a high academic standard throughout high school is being acknowledged, said Ianca De Los Santos Rodriguez. “As a finalist, I have the opportunity to apply to great schools without the worry of extensive costs.”
