Op-Ed: Kress Endorses Schnecker For Ossining School Board
The writer is a former school district trustee. The school board election is May 16.

Bill Kress served on the Ossining Board of Education 2007-19 and was its president from 2011-15. He is an alumni of Ossining High School, class of '79.
To the Ossining School Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to endorse Frank Schnecker’s reelection to the Ossining Board of Education. He has served the school district tirelessly for the past 12 years and we are all better for it. He has advocated for Foundation Aid for his entire term, making numerous trips to Albany, New York City and throughout the region to secure funding that has long been denied to our district.

And his efforts have paid off-the Ossining Schools will receive FULL Foundation Aid funding this year-an additional $39 MILLION DOLLARS! This will result in taxpayer’s funding only 63% of the budget, an historically low total.
But Frank’s work for funding is only a small part of his focus. He has worked to enhance every student’s educational experience by increasing programs in Ossining and at PNW BOCES, serving on that board since 2017.

As a former BOE trustee who was fortunate to sit at the table with Frank, I can attest to his thorough approach to creative solutions on any issue. I wholeheartedly endorse Frank’s reelection for another term on the Board of Education. Our schools and our community will be better for it.
