Ossining Annual Good Friday Procession 2019
Friday, April 19, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Ossining NY
St. Ann’s annual Good Friday procession (Via Crucis) is a live reenactment of the Stations of the Cross. The procession scheduled for Friday, April 19 starts at 6:00 pm at the front of St. Ann’s Church, located at 25 Eastern Avenue. The procession, which lasts approximately three hours, travels a set route through the Village of Ossining with seven stops. Each of the 14 Stations represents an event on Good Friday, the day Jesus was condemned, crucified and his body laid in a tomb. At each station, those taking part pause, reflect and pray.
Up to 3,000 people participate in the procession. Organized by the Spanish-speaking parishioners of St. Ann’s, this event now includes readings in English, Spanish, Italian and Tagalog (Filipino) as well as interfaith participation by BOMA (Briarcliff Ossining Ministerial Association). The last stations take place back at St. Ann’s with a Mass in the Church following. All are welcome to participate or observe.
St. Ann’s expressed its gratitude to the greater Ossining Community, the Village of Ossining and the Police Department for their continued support of this traditional religious observation.
