Ossining High School Celebrates Achievement and Fashion Show

The OHS Prestigious Ladies of Power Event Raises Funds for Scholarships and Educational Activities

Ossining High School’s Prestigious Ladies of Power (PLP) recently held their annual Achievement and Fashion Show, an event designed to celebrate and empower young women of color within the school community. Formed in 2007, the PLP Mentoring Program aims to inspire, support, and academically nurture students, preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders.

The event's primary purpose was to raise funds to support the PLP's various initiatives, including annual college trips, monthly after-school events, guest speaker visits, and scholarships for senior members of PLP. The highlight of the evening was the keynote speech delivered by Kaneessa Myers, the very first President of PLP, who shared her inspiring journey and the influence PLP has had on her life.

Adding a special touch to the event, Ossining School Counselor and Founder of PLP, Dr. Kendall McFarlane (affectionately known as Dr. K), participated as a model, along with another faculty member. Their involvement emphasized the supportive and close-knit nature of the PLP community.

“The PLP Achievement and Fashion Show is a celebration of the strength, resilience, and potential of our young women,” said Dr. McFarlane. “By coming together, we not only raise funds for important activities and scholarships but also reinforce the bonds that make our program so impactful.”
