Ossining High School Drama Club Succeeds in Classic Musical Comedy

The production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" includes many musical numbers and huge ensemble cast.

On March 22nd, Ossining High School's Drama Club put on a stunning dress rehearsal of the classic musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." The talented cast and crew delivered a flawless show that had the audience cheering and applauding throughout the entire performance.

Under the direction of Drama Teacher Drew DiRienzo, the cast brought the story to life with energy, wit, and skill. The show's classic songs, including "I Believe in You," "Brotherhood of Man," and "The Company Way," were all meticulously performed by the dedicated actors.

“This is a big show with lots of musical numbers and a huge ensemble,” said Mr. DiRienzo. “It took nine weeks of extraordinarily hard work by our incredible cast, but we did it!”

Although the original musical is set in 1960s, Mr. DiRienzo said this rendition has been elevated with a diverse cast and modern spin while staying true to the original content.

The lead role of J. Pierrepont Finch was played by senior Frank Marrero, who delivered a standout performance. His comedic timing and dynamic vocal range were truly impressive and brought the character to life in a unique and entertaining manner.

“This is my first ever lead role and I’m honored to be playing the part of Finch,” Frank said. “I relate to the character in so many ways—he’s always smiling and thinking strategically. I’m going to play it with heart.”

The supporting cast was equally impressive, with notable performances from senior Derek Rudley as the conniving Bud Frump and sophomore Sasha Diament as the charming and spunky Rosemary Pilkington. Sasha's solo numbers delighted the audience as she hit her notes with poise and precision.

The huge ensemble also deserves recognition for their incredible dance numbers and impeccable harmonies. The technical aspects of the show, including the set design, lighting, and live jazz combo, were also exceptional.

The OHS Drama Club production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" will run March 23rd - 25th at 7:00 pm in the OHS auditorium. Admission is free and open to to the public.
