Miguel Angel Garcia's passion for acting ignited during his formative years within Ossining High School's Theater Arts program. From his earliest days as a freshman, the young actor performed in musicals and plays while cultivating his craft until his graduation in 2016.

Now, the realization of Miguel's lifelong dream to become a professional actor is coming to fruition as he takes on a supporting role in the feature film "The Long Game," set to premiere on April 12th. Inspired by a true story, this captivating film chronicles a tale of determination, resilience, and triumph against all odds.

Inspired by the book "Mustang Miracle" by Humberto G. Garcia, "The Long Game" chronicles the incredible journey of five young Mexican American caddies in 1955 who created their own golf course amidst the rugged terrain of South Texas brush country. Despite facing numerous challenges, including outdated equipment and a lack of professional instruction, these determined individuals overcame adversity to compete against affluent, all-white teams, ultimately winning the 1957 Texas State High School Golf Championship.

“As an aspiring actor, my teachers and directors at OHS allowed me to dream of what I could achieve in the future,” he said, adding, “they provided me with opportunities to learn about my craft. I don’t know where I would be without them—they supported me every step of the way.”

Miguel emphasized that he is thankful to everyone at OHS who helped him and hopes the film can inspire the next generation of actors emerging from school’s theater program, which is known for nurturing top-tier talent. Among them is OHS Senior Akayla Morris, whose dedication and talent have earned her a coveted spot in the highly competitive BFA Acting program at SUNY Purchase.

These accomplishments underscore the program's commitment to equipping students with the skills and confidence necessary to pursue their aspirations in the performing arts.

"Our theater program provides a platform where students like Miguel and Akayla can cultivate their skills and realize their creative potential,” said Kate Mathews, Director of Cultural Arts at Ossining High School. “Through dedication, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we empower aspiring actors to grow, learn, and ultimately thrive in the world of performing arts."
