Ossining Schools Make Changes For Coronavirus Planning, Cleaning
"We apologize for the short notice," said Superintendent Ray Sanchez.
OSSINING, NY — Ossining schools will have a two-hour delay Friday, district officials announced. In addition, schools will be closed Monday instead of March 19 for a Superintendent's Conference Day, and all after school activities will be suspended on Friday and Monday. Additionally, all events and activities in the schools this weekend will be canceled, said Superintendent Ray Sanchez.
The delayed opening will give all staff an opportunity to continue to plan for continuity of instruction and to communicate their plans with students in the event of a school closing due to the outbreak of new coronavirus. The Superintendent’s Conference Day is being moved up so that faculty and administrators can keep planning.
All elementary parent/teacher conferences on March 19 are canceled.

March 19 will now be a regular day of instruction.
"We apologize for the short notice on these changes, yet we feel it is important to continue planning in the event that a school closure is needed. We have no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in our district and all of these steps are out of an abundance of caution," Sanchez told parents. "In addition to these measures, we will also be conducting a deep clean of our buildings starting Friday afternoon and through Monday. Our building custodians will continue to work extremely hard to ensure that our buildings are sanitized appropriately. These additional three days will help them ensure that they are reaching all high touch areas (handrails, water fountains, etc.)."
