Ossining Student to Take Part in NY Graduation Measures Forum

My Brother’s Keeper fellow Nicholas-Ajani Davis, an Ossining High School senior, has been selected to participate in the NYS Graduation Measures Virtual Student Forum with top state Education Department officials.

He is one of about 150 students statewide who will address the panel of educators, and one of 25 My Brother’s Keeper Fellows invited to the March 10 event. Students will share their thoughts on what seniors should know and be able to do before they graduate; what courses or exams they need to be prepared for college and careers or civic engagement; how achievement measures can accurately reflect the skills and knowledge of special populations; and other questions.

State Education Department officials will include the students’ voices in a report to a blue ribbon commission that is reviewing the state’s high school graduation measures. The commission will make recommendations to the state Board of Regents on changes that would better serve New York’s diverse student population.
