Ossining student wins Ginsburg Art Contest
Local competition reveals student's creative talent
Claremont Elementary School student Yeraldine Lopez Jacome has won first prize in the Ginsburg Art Contest.
As part of the competition, students in Jack Schursky’s art class were asked to create Thanksgiving/Fall themed artwork. Yeraldine said the inspiration for her award winning drawing came from Claremont's very own garden:
"We were outside when Mr. Schursky told us about the contest... I chose to draw the arbor in the garden because at the time I saw flowers around it. I drew the turkey because it was about to be Thanksgiving... Pumpkins were growing in the garden at the time and they were beautiful so I added a big one.”

During an award ceremony held on Thursday, December 22, Yeraldine was gifted a Chromebook and a check for $5,000 to support Claremont School’s Arts and Education program, courtesy of Ginsburg Development Companies.
"Claremont School is thrilled to win the Ginsburg Thanksgiving Art Contest for the second year in a row, said Claremont Principal Ferzeen Shamsi. "We appreciate the value Ginsburg has in the Arts and their support of our multiple literacy goal. We are very proud of all of our students who entered and thrilled that Yeraldine Jacome was chosen as the 2022 winner."
