Ossining's Ernestine Smith-Dent Dies at 69

Ernestine Smith-Dent of Ossining died suddenly at Montefiore Hospital on November 29, 2015. She was 69 years old.

Smith-Dent was born April 21, 1946 in Rocky Mountain, Virginia to James Ernest Holland and Tressie Townes Holland.

Ernestine worked with the mentally challenged. She later worked as a house cleaner for several families.

She is survived by her sons Lee Edward Smith Jr., Jeffrey Smith, Kevin Smith, grandchildren Jackie Oslund, Reya Smith, Mya Smith, Cristina Smith, Arianna Smith, Zoe Smith, Leeya Smith and Kevin Smith Jr. (KJ).

Ernestine is also survived by her brothers James Holland and Charles Holland and her sisters Marguerite Brown, Jean Paige Russell, Elizabeth Ross and Edith Manns.

She will be reposing Thursday at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State Street Ossining from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. where services will be held Friday 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery in Ossining.
