OSSINING, NY — An incident at Ossining High School Thursday involved a teenager from another community who is accused of threatening one student with a knife and hitting another with a car.

"It was a potentially dangerous situation that was quickly resolved thanks to diligent staff members monitoring the school, quick response from patrol, and thorough investigation by detectives," Ossining police said on Facebook.

In a letter to parents afterward, Superintendent Ray Sanchez said the incident started at 10:15 a.m. School security saw a teen — whom he identified only as a 17-year-old from a nearby community — appear to threaten an OHS student with a knife. Police were called and the boy drove off — hitting a student with the car. The student was treated for minor injuries. The suspect was located by police and taken into custody.

The suspect did not try to enter the building. The school implemented "shelter-in-place" protocols. There were extra officers around the high school at dismissal time, he said.

"We believe this was an isolated incident and the student and suspect were known to one another," Sanchez wrote.
