2. 2026 field hockey season is here. Here are all the team schedules (lohud.com) — Ossining field hockey fans can start planning now, with several Section 1 regular-season games scheduled at Ossining's Dorner Middle School and other local fields this fall. The full 2026 slate runs from early September through late October, capped by sectional and state championships at nearby high schools.

Briarcliff Sustainability Committee to Launch Food Scraps Dropoff Program (riverjournalonline.com) — Briarcliff Manor is launching a food scraps drop-off site that will particularly help residents who currently travel to Ossining's Cedar Lane Park facility. Funded partly by a state grant, the program offers free starter kits at Community Day and aims to make composting easier than driving to Ossining or paying for private pickup.

Ossining Man Arrested Following Domestic Incident in Town of Somers (yonkerstimes.com) — State Police report that a 40-year-old man from Ossining faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after an alleged domestic incident near the Muscoot Reservoir in Somers on August 15. Investigators say the victim escaped after being assaulted and threatened, and the suspect was later arraigned and released pending a Somers court appearance.
