Paul Fried, Former Ossining Principal

A service will be held Wednesday in Croton-on-Hudson.

Dr. Paul Fried, who was a school administrator for many years in Ossining before becoming a superintendent in several local school districts, has died.

A funeral service will be held in remembrance of Fried at noon Wednesday, April 25 at Temple Israel Northern Westchester, 31 Glengary Lane in Croton-on-Hudson.

"Many of you knew Dr. Fried for his philosophy of servant leadership and as a thoughtful listener/collaborator and relationship builder," Mamaroneck school district officials said in a statement. "During his time in Mamaroneck, Dr. Fried forged strong relationships between parents, board members, central and building administrator teams and the Mamaroneck Teachers Association. He will be greatly missed."

Dr. Fried worked in the Ossining schools for two decades, as a principal and an assistant superintendent. He was the schools chief in Mamaroneck from 2005-10. He then served as superintendent position in Montville, NJ. for five years, before taking over the top spot in the White Plains School District in July 2015.

A graduate of SUNY/New Paltz, Dr. Fried earned his Master's Degree there as well and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University.
