Peekskill Head Start Now Signing Up Children for 2017-18 School Year

This is high quality early childhood education, free to eligible families.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Peekskill Head Start is now recruiting children for the 2017-18 program year. The program offers high quality early childhood education with individualized teaching, nutritious snacks and meals, and comprehensive services for children and families.

The WESTCOP/Peekskill Head Start Program is a federally funded, free preschool program serving local, low income families.

Their goal is to promote children’s readiness for school, and to support parents in their role as their child’s “first and best teacher”. Additionally, they offer many educational and social opportunities for parents to become involved with the center.

Head Start Strives to serve children with disabilities. Therefore, income eligible children with suspected or diagnosed disabilities receive priority consideration. The staff is available to assist parents in referring children for evaluation and services as needed.

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • Families must meet Federal Low Income Guidelines
  • Children must be 3 or 4 years old by December 1 st of the program year
  • Children must be immunized before classroom entry according to New York State Office of Children and Family Service requirements.

The center has six half day classes, three in the morning and three in the afternoon.
