The Pros and Cons of a Single Payer Healthcare System in New York is the Topic of Assemblywoman Galef’s Upcoming Panel Discus

An oft-debated topic comes to the 95th Assembly District: Do we need Single Payer Healthcare?

On Tuesday, October 10th at the Cortlandt Town Hall, New York State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef will host a panelist forum to discuss the pros and cons of the New York Health Act, legislation that would create a statewide single-payer health system.

The speakers include Assembly Member Richard Gottfried who sponsors the New York Health Act, Bill Hammond, Director of Health Policy for the Empire Center for Public Policy, Dr. Thomas Lee, Past President of the Westchester Medical Society and Westchester Academy of Medicine, and Dr. Betsy Rosenthal, a member of Physicians for a National Health Program, NY Metro Chapter.

“The issue of how we pay for healthcare has been much debated on a federal and state level,” said Galef. “There are good arguments on every side of the issue, and I look forward to learning more from supporters and opponents of the idea at the forum.”
