High-Speed Chase, Crash in Croton-on-Hudson

The incident happened Thursday night on South Riverside.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — First responders from Croton and Ossining were called to the end of South Riverside Avenue at 9:25 p.m. Thursday, where a car that had been speeding through the village crashed through the fence at the Van Cortlandt Manor entrance.

Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, Croton-on-Hudson Emergency Medical Services and the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps Paramedic Unit responded; the driver was apparently pinned in the car, according to the fire department.

According to posts on Facebook, the driver was fleeing police.

Members of Washington Engine Company No. 2 put their Jaws of Life to work on the driver's door. The patient was removed from the car and into the care of CEMS 55B1 and OVAC 36M1, who transported him to Westchester Medical Center's Trauma Unit, fire officials said on Facebook.

Croton Police remained on scene to do an accident investigation with their joint AI Team from Croton, Ossining Police Department and Briarcliff Manor Police, the fire department said.

The driver was later identified as Yonkers resident Keith Harrison.

The 42-year-old was first seen speeding north on Route 9 at 9:30 p.m. When police tried to stop him, he left the highway at the Albany Post Road exit and sped south on Riverside Avenue, stopping only when the road ended. He crashed through the entrance to Van Cortlandt Manor and hit a car there.
