Put On A Mask And Head To Ossining Farmers Market Saturday

The market is open. Fresh fish! Eggs! Bread! Pickles, kombucha, more spring produce and locally-produced foods.

From the Ossining Farmers Market

The farmers market is one of those places where you will need to wear a mask so please be sure to grab one, along with your reusable bags, when you leave the house this week. We know they don't mean the kind of mask in the photo, although, with a few small modifications...

Here are some guidelines to shopping the farmers market:

  • Please wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth.
  • Our vendors are staffed to keep things moving along quickly. but please leave 6 feet of space between yourself and the person in front of you if you find yourself in a line (that's about two arm lengths).
  • Help us minimize crowding and get everyone through the market as quickly as possible by greeting our farmers and food makers with a big smile and the list of what you want to buy. We all love a good chat but will have to save it for when Covid-19 is just a bad memory.
  • Take social conversations with friends and neighbors outside the market area (but continue to follow the social distancing rules!).
  • Ask for the product you want to purchase and the salesperson will gather it together for you at the register (vegetables too). Avoid touching or leaning over displays.
  • We have asked our vendors to pre-package everything they possibly can. We hate all the plastic too but it minimizes food exposure and maximizes grab-and-go purchasing. We apologize if that means you can't get items in your preferred amount.
  • There will be no food sampling or cooking in the market. Please support vendors who you usually buy ready-to-eat food from by purchasing some of their packaged products.

Our vendors are posting their individual order/delivery options in a special Facebook group we've created (click the "Vendor Posts" tab to see only the ordering instructions) and in the "Order" highlight under our profile info on our Instagram page at @downtoearthmkts. We also have a spreadsheet of vendors that are accepting orders!
