Service for Philip S. Wolfe
A longtime Ossining resident, Wolfe was a ground-breaking mathematician.

Mathematician Philip S. Wolfe died on December 29 after a brief illness.
Born in California in 1927, he earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of California at Berkeley, and went on to become one of the founding fathers of the field of optimization, the mathematics that underlies modern operations research.
He is survived by his wife, Hallie Flanagan Wolfe, his daughter Sarah of Whitehorse, Canada, and grandchildren Duncan and Sidney.

Phil was known for his kindness to younger researchers and for clear and interesting lectures.
He and Hallie have lived in Ossining New York for the past 48 years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2pm at Holy Name of Mary Parish Meeting Room, Croton NY 10520. Arrangement handled by Dorsey Funeral Home, Inc, Ossining NY.
