Stay Fit and Have Fun This Summer at Ossining Rec!

POUND Rockout Workout, HOT HIPS Belly Dance Class, and ZUMBA rock your summer!

The Ossining Recreation Department is bringing you many ways to get fit and stay fit, all while having a blast, this summer! Instructor Suzi Tipa will be will be teaching the following programs this summer:


POUND Rockout Workout

You've heard about it on shows like The View and The Today Show, now try it out for yourself! POUND is a great way to burn calories and bang out your stress, too! POUND is a 45-minute group fitness class that combines cardio, strength training, and Pilates with drumming to achieve a full-body workout. Using lightly weighted drumsticks, Ripstix™, you can expect to burn between 500-900 calories per class and will be performing over 15,000 reps per session!

And you're in luck, because a new series is beginning July 17 through the Ossining Recreation Department. Classes are held at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, 95 Broadway in Ossining, on Wednesdays at 9:15am. There is also a 7:00pm class on Wednesdays. The fee for each 6-week series is just $75 for residents! HOT HIPS

Your summer will really sizzle with this fun and fabulous introduction to Middle Eastern dance and Hawaiian Hula! You'll awaken your inner goddess as you learn the secrets to swiveling your hips in different styles of "belly dance," and you'll explore the beauty and storytelling of Hawaiian Hula. The class is taught barefoot, but you can wear ballet slippers or socks if you prefer, and students should bring a scarf to tie around their hips.

Classes will be held at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, 95 Broadway in Ossining, on Wednesdays at 5:45pm, and the fee for this 6-week series is $75 for residents, $90 for non-residents. ZUMBA

Zumba® takes the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective and super fun, Zumba is total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy, and a serious dose of awesome every class! Suzi's unique experience and expertise in international dance styles makes her Zumba classes a virtual trip around the world!
