Con Ed says:
Con Edison crews have been responding to thousands of power outages, predominantly in Westchester County, caused by violent storms overnight. As of 7 a.m., company crews were working to restore power to more than 5,000 customers in parts of New York City and Westchester County. About 4,000 outages were in Westchester County; nearly 600 were in the Bronx and about 630 were in Queens.
Since the strong wind and rain storms blew through the company’s service area overnight, the company has restored nearly 20,000 customers. The company reminds customers to stay away from downed power lines, and to report any downed lines to Con Edison or their local police department.
Customers can report downed power lines, outages and check service restoration status at www.conEd.com or by calling 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.
Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available.
Crews will give priority to restoring service lines that will provide power to the most customers as quickly as possible, then move on to restore smaller groups and individual customers who are without power.
