Teatown Lake Reservation honored Pace University, IBM Research, Phelps Hospital Northwell Health, New York Life Insurance Company, and the Teatown PlantFest Committee at its annual fundraising gala, A Night in the Woods.

The gala took place at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club, where more than 250 community members, partnering organizations, donors, and elected officials attended and supported Teatown’s mission. The organizations were honored for volunteer and financial support of the nonprofit, which is the largest independent, community-supported nature preserve in Westchester County.

Teatown relies on this annual gala to raise a significant portion of its annual operating budget.
“We are deeply grateful to the honorees and all of our friends who volunteer and support Teatown.” Said Kevin Carter, Teatown’s Executive Director. “It will take a community to raise the next generation of environmental stewards, and we need them more than ever before.”

The event also highlighted Teatown’s growing role in nurturing and encouraging students for further study and careers in environmental science. Two young adults — Greg Haber, who began coming to Teatown as a child and grew up through years of science camp as a camper and a counselor, and Amar Bhardwaj, a recent alumnus of Teatown’s Environmental Science Academy — shared their respective journeys into environmental work and science research, which began at Teatown.
