December 16-18

Theater O performers, ages 5-13, take to the stage at Theater O from December 16-18 in Krista Knight’s funny, poignant take on the classic tale of The Little Mermaid. Thessaly, the youngest of five mermaid sisters, yearns to visit the surface. When she finally gets her wish, she falls in love and makes a bargain, with a deadly catch. Featuring a narrator Emcee, a frustrated Mer-King, and a location creating Chorus, sassy mermaid sisters, a narcoleptic dowager grandmother, a tongue collector of a witch, a dude of a prince and ingénue Katarina of the land, this reimagining offers comic, tragic and surprising twists on a familiar story.

Original music for the production was composed by Ossining’s own Ellen Marzelli. Krista Knight's work includes PRIMAL PLAY (New Georges, Playwrights Center of MN), SALAMANDER LEVIATHAN (Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, Ars Nova ANT FEST, Fingerlakes Musical Theatre Festival, Inkwell, KCACTF Musical Theatre Award from the Kennedy Center), CLEMENTINE AND THE CYBER DUCKS (The Assembly, Hangar Theatre, Inkwell), PHANTOM BAND (The Claque, Walden Theatre, Voice and Vision, Dixon Place), ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION (Playwrights Center of SF, NYC Fringe Festival), and UN-HINGED (Wily West, Playhouse Creatures, WordBRIDGE), among others.

The cast features: Kwabena Boateng, Kiera Bisnauth, Stella Brail, Eoin Carr, Asher Cort, Lizzy Dealy, Ava Farewell, Haley Janush, Tory Janush, AJ Jeffrey, Odessa Mele, Olivia Rodriguez, Kiran Roye, Julian Salcedo, Audrey Schnecker, Claire Schnecker, Ella Schnecker and Ali Ward.
