CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Three state environmental conservation officers patrolled Croton Point Park April 7. They checked more than 25 anglers and found not just a lot of law-breaking but also two fishermen who had mutilated their striped bass to hide their size.

ECOs Craig Tompkins, Kevin Wamsley, and Chloe Swansen patrolled Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson and checked more than 25 anglers, according to a press release titled "All About That Bass."

Anglers are allowed to possess only one striped bass, and one group was well over that limit with a total of 48 striped bass found, eight of which were undersized, the officers said. Six tickets were issued to that group.
