Journaling with SeniorsWednesdays | 12 PM – 1 PMCroton Free Library, Ottinger RoomJournaling for Seniors is a new program for community seniors offered by the Croton Free Library. This free club offers older adults the chance to express themselves through writing, doodling, and more. No particular writing or art skills required. Supplies is provided. Offered in partnership with Croton Caring. Space is limited to 12 participants, so sign up today.Registration is required: To do so, either email gglazer@wlsmail.org or call 914.271.6612. Croton Cub Scout Pack 28 "Dear, Veteran" ActivityThursday, November 11Croton Cub Scout Pack 28 will be holding its annual "Dear, Veteran" activity once again this year and would like to invite the community to participate. Interested individuals should decorate one side of an index card in a patriotic theme with the words "Dear Veteran," and write a message on the other side expressing thanks for their service. Place the index card in a clear plastic bag (or laminate it) and tie it to a tree near your home (on your property or with permission of the property owner) with a string or ribbon on November 10th. All notes must be posted on private property with the permission of the owner. Signage on public trees or in Village rights of way is not permissible. All notes should be removed the weekend after Thanksgiving. American Legion Veterans Day CeremonyThursday, November 11 | 11 AMCroton Veterans’ Monument (Five Corners)All residents are invited to join American Legion Fox-Eklof Post 505 in honoring Croton’s veterans.In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the gymnasium at Holy Name of Mary Church. Croton Yacht Club Veterans Day LuncheonThursday, November 11 | 12 PMCroton Yacht Club’s Clubhouse (6 Elliott Way)Join members of the Croton Yacht Club to celebrate Veterans Day. The event will begin with a brief ceremony, followed by a luncheon that is free of charge for all village veterans and spouses, surviving spouses of veterans, active military and spouses. To offset the luncheon expenses, it is suggested that all non-military attendees make donations. Brennan, Lower Hudson Chapter of the NYS Archaeological Association at Croton Point Nature Center to learn about an old archaeological site. The Fisher Site 6 is located to the north of the NY Air National Guard Armory in Troy NY, a distance of less than 1000 feet from the Hudson River and first identified in 1980 by Charles Fisher. Access to the Nature Center Building will be limited and masks must be worn inside by all. Access is free to public.
