CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — The village of Croton-on-Hudson received a Planning Commendation from the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation for the Croton Point Avenue Traffic, Pedestrian, and Bicycle Improvement Project.
The award was handed out at the fedration's 49th Annual Awards Dinner May 31 at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.
The project was designed to create safer traffic flow through a quarter-mile long corridor along Croton Point Avenue from South Riverside Avenue to Veterans Plaza enroute to the Croton-Harmon train station — a major hub for Metro-North and Amtrak.

It included roadway reconstruction, new curbs and sidewalks along both sides, the addition of bicycle lanes, three traffic signals, replacement of existing drainage structures, and new striping and signage.
The project, funded through a combination of state federal, county and local funds, was initially budgeted at a cost of $3.8 million; however, due to the resourcefulness of the Village Department of Public Works in providing oversight and construction administration, the project came in under budget by almost $300,000, Village Manager Bryan T. Healy said in a news release.
