Visitation, Service for Bobby Williams

The longtime Ossining resident was 70.

Bobby Williams of Ossining died Sept. 10, 2016. He was 70.

Bobby was born on January 30, 1946 in Starke, Florida to the late Jessie Dan Williams and Aretha Stewart Williams. When Bobby was 12 years old, the family moved to New York. Bobby attended the Peekskill city schools, and graduated from Peekskill High School in 1966.

In 1969 Bobby met his wife, Malissia, at Ossining’s Sportman’s Club. They married in 1970,and just celebrated 46 years of marriage this past June.

Bobby was a steady presence and faithful participant at the Ossining Village Board meetings where he would speak of several issues affecting the black and minority neighborhoods within the Ossining community.

Bobby was employed by the Hendrick Hudson School District as a Custodian and School Bus Driver. He retired in 2014 after 42 years of dedicated service with the school district.

Bobby was also a Lifetime Gold member of the NAACP. He held the office of President of the Ossining branch from 2001 to 2003. Bobby was also a faithful member of the Corinthian Lodge #44 F.& A.M., Ossining, and served as the Tiler for many years.

Bobby was a faithful member of the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, since 1971. However due to health issues, he found it difficult to attend services regularly.

He is survived by his wife, Malissia Williams; five sisters, Joyce Robinson of Staten Island, NY, Ola Mae Sessions of Peekskill, NY, Delois Haughton of Peekskill, NY, Ellen (Debbie) Williams of NY, Bonita Williams of GA; two brothers, Jesse (Celestine) Williams of Columbus, GA and Willie Williams of Fishkill, NY; in-laws, Jesse & Arlean Bunch of Ossining, Thomas & Viola Jefferson of Peekskill, and Ethel Bazemore of Ossining, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jessie and Aretha Williams, four brothers-in-law, Jerry Sessions, John Bunch, Donald Bunch and Charles Bunch, and his mother-in-law Annie Bunch.

Visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2016 from 6-8PM at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church. 304 Spring St., Ossining, New York 10562. A funeral service will be held at Star on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 9AM, with interment to follow at Dale Cemetery.
