Visitation, Service for Henry Reichert

The Ossining resident was 85.

Henry Reichert, resident of Ossining since 1963, died Feb. 12, 2016, he was 85.

He was born Apr. 15, 1930 in Brooklyn to Henry & Catherine (Buttner) Reichert. Henry served as a sergeant in the US Army during Korea with the SCARWAF 466th Construction Co. stationed at Kadena AFB in Okinawa.

Henry married Elisabeth M. Claren on Sept. 16, 1961 at Our Lady of Refuge Church in the Bronx. Henry worked for NY Telephone for 40 years. He was a life member of the NY Telephone Pioneers and the Germania of Poughkeepsie German Club.

Henry was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Ossining where he was active for many years. He was an avid fisherman, loved hunting and gardening.

He was pre-deceased by a twin brother at birth and his sister Anne Corbett and her husband Jack.

He is survived by his wife Elisabeth, 5 sons Michael (Jennifer), Thomas, Joseph, James (Angela), Steven (Kimberly), 8 grandchildren Alexandra, Victoria, Michael, Thomas H., Timothy, James, Joan and Lily Ann. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Elizabeth) and sister Frances Springsteen (Lawrence).

Henry loved animals and was pre-deceased by 9 loyal canine companions. His dog, Violet, survives him.

He will be reposing Wed. 2-4 & 6-8pm at Leach & Thomas, Inc. 32 State St. Ossining. Mass of Christian Burial Thurs. 11AM at St. Ann’s Church, burial St. Augustine’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rosary Hill or the Guiding Eyes for the Blind appreciated.
