Lydie M. Cardinale, a longtime resident of Ossining, passed away Monday December 5, 2016. Lydie was born in France on December 2, 1920 and was the daughter of Francois Menard and Clotilde Denier. She was 96.
Lydie was a midwife in Paris during WW II, when she met her husband Louis, who was stationed there with the U.S. Army. They married in Paris and returned to Ossining in 1945.
Mrs. Cardinale is survived by her daughter Linda Birrittella and daughter in law Dr. Elaine Healy; her 2 grandchildren Jackie (Brian) Lynch and Thomas (Amy) Birrittella; her 3 great grandchildren Christopher, Matthew and Meghan Birrittella. She was predeceased by her husband Louis in 2002 and her son Ronald in 2005.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place, Ossining. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 am, at St. Ann’s Church in Ossining. The interment will follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery. The family and friends are making donations to the Alzheimer‘s Association.
