Visitation, Service for Mary J. Murphy

The former Ossining resident was 81.

Mary J. Murphy, a former resident of Ossining and a recent resident of Bethel Springvale Inn passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016.

Mary was born July 29, 1934 in Troy, NY and was the daughter of the late Christopher B. Murphy and Mary E. (Moran) Murphy. She was 81.

Mary was a retired Spanish teacher at Hendrick Hudson High school. She also taught at Mary Rogers College. In 1992, she was one of the founders of the Maryknoll Affiliates. She was the Co-Founder with Fr. John Hudert of the “Pachamma Farm” at Maryknoll.

Mary is survived by her sister Eileen T. DiVito, her niece Eileen Varrone, nephew Paul DiVito, great Aunt of Brianna and Carmine Varrone. She was predeceased by her brother Christopher, Jr.

Visiting hours will be held at Dorsey on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with the funeral mass Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church. Interment St. Augustine’s Cemetery.
