Visitation, Service for Richard John Linehan
He and his wife owned and ran Linehan's Office & Party Supplies in Ossining for 26 years.

Richard John Linehan, former resident of Ossining, NY, passed away September 10th, 2017. He was born on May 24th, 1947 and was the son of John Keenan and Anna (Giblin) Linehan. Richard was 70.Richard was born and raised in Montclair, NJ. He attended Immaculate Conception Grammar School and graduated from St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, NJ.
Richard went on to graduate from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MI with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. He joined the New Jersey National Guard of the US Army during the Vietnam Era and served for six years as a 2nd Lieutenant. He married his wife Virginia “Ginger” Linehan of 47 years on November 7th, 1970. They moved to Ossining, NY where they established their roots and raised three children: RJ of Katonah, NY, Christopher (deceased 1992), and Colleen of San Francisco, CA.
Rich started his life of work selling newspapers as a paper boy in front of the Annin Flag Company in Montclair, NJ. He then moved on to start his own handyman business called “Dick’s Handy Service.” He also worked as a caddy at Montclair Country Club and served ice cream at Grunnings in Montclair, NJ. Rich always worked very hard and had a strong work ethic. After graduating from college, he worked for Warner Lambert Pharmaceuticals for 13 years.

In 1983 he started his second business, Linehan’s Office & Party Supplies, in Ossining, NY with his wife Ginger. He was the love of his customers always making sure they were properly served and their needs were satisfied. He ran the business for 26 years. He and his wife retired to Somers, NY to be closer to their son.
Rich is survived by his wife Ginger; son RJ (Debbie); daughter Colleen; grandchildren Riley, Madison, and Brayden; brother James P. Linehan; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws who all at some point worked with him in the store. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna; son Christopher; pet dog Ellie who hung out at the store; grand-dogs Boomer and Julienne.

Rich was a quiet man, kind and thoughtful, always aiming to please. He loved his family very much; showing it by working endlessly to provide for them.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 12th, 4-8pm at Dorsey Funeral Home, Inc.14 Emwilton Pl., Ossining. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, September, 13th, 10am at St. Ann’s Church, 25 Eastern Avenue, Ossining, NY 10562. Interment St. Augustine's Cemetery.
