Dearest Lorraine A. Ciero, a longtime resident of Ossining and formerly of Yonkers, died Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was born on June 18, 1937. She was 76.
Lorraine is survived by her husband Robert (Bob). Lorraine and Bob were married
for close to fifty years.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her mother Angela, father Peter, brother Alfred and sister Janice.
She is survived by her sisters, Ina Giniso of Sebastian, Florida and Margaret Skrobola of Ann Arbor, Michigan; as well as ten nieces and nephews, forty-one grand nieces and nephews and five great grand nieces and nephews… all whom she cherished deeply and loved as her own children.
Lorraine was always there when she was needed…a truly loving and caring person.
Known as “Aunt Lorraine” to so many, she opened her home and her heart to
everyone… hosting myriads of celebrations for family, friends and neighbors.
Lorraine and Bob made their summer home in Seaside Park, New Jersey a beautiful summer refuge and a place where many cherished memories were formed by family and friends for over three decades.
Lorraine was a parishioner and daily communicant at St. Augustine’s Catholic
Church in Ossining where she served as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. On Sundays she brought the Holy Eucharist to residents in area nursing homes and always volunteered for the many events, festivals and celebrations throughout the years and worked as part of a team that met on Saturdays to clean and beautify the church for weekly liturgies. Additionally, she faithfully served on the board of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Lorraine had an amazing determination to get things done. She had a passion
for collecting…artwork, music, coins, stamps, ratchet and wrench sets. She loved
to work in her garden and was capable of building and fixing almost anything
in her own unique way. She really enjoyed cooking for her family and made the
best shrimp, coleslaw and potato salad ever. She traveled extensively and was
particularly fond of her trips to France, the Holy Land and Italy.
Graduating from Roosevelt High School, Lorraine attended Pace College. For over
forty years she worked as Administrative Assistant and Office Manager for JZG
Resources in Armonk. Her co-workers will remember her as a beautiful and loving
person…counseling and consoling…
We love you Lorraine.
