His brother John describes how their tight-knit Long Island family, local fire service, and community rallied around them, and how donations in Eddie's name now support youth wrestling and students in need.
• Toddler Sports Program for Fall (jericho-news-journal.com) — Families in the Town of Oyster Bay can now register their 3- and 4-year-olds for the fall Toddler Sports Program at the Hicksville Athletic Center, starting September 29. The six-week program costs $75 for resident children, offers weekday morning classes, and requires proof of residency and age, with limited spots available through the town's online Parks Registration Portal.
• Plainview residents fight planned removal of trees damaging sidewalks (news12.com) — Plainview homeowners in the Town of Oyster Bay are protesting the planned removal of mature trees whose roots have damaged nearby sidewalks, fearing the neighborhood will lose valued shade and character. The town cites pedestrian safety and says sidewalks must be repaired at homeowners' expense, and typically does not replant trees after removal, though residents may plant their own replacements.
