'Billy Joel Boulevard' May Come to a Town Near You

Part of a Long Island highway may soon undergo a name change to honor Long Island’s own Billy Joel.

“Billy Joel Boulevard” would be located in Joel’s hometown of Hicksville, between Old Country Road and East John Street.

The bill, which was proposed by Sen. Jack Martins last year, passed in the Senate last week and the dream of “Billy Joel Boulevard” could soon become a reality once the bill goes through the state Legislature, Newsday reports.

“Billy Joel is an iconic, world renowned musician who never forgot the place he called home; Long Island,” Martins said in a statement last year. “He’s promoted Long Island through his songs, but more importantly, he’s helped his fellow Long Islanders through his deeds.”
