Billy Joel's Oyster Bay Mansion Breaks LI Record With Nearly $29 Million Sale
The historic sale of MiddleSea was announced on Instagram on Monday.
OYSTER BAY, NY — The Piano Man singer's former 26-acre waterfront estate located in Oyster Bay, known as MiddleSea, has been sold for $28.75 million – a record-breaking sale on Long Island, according to the realty company.
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Laffey International Realty announced the sale in an Instagram post on Monday, stating it's "the highest residential sale in Long Island history outside of the Hamptons."
MiddleSea has spent years on the market and undergone multiple unsuccessful attempts to be sold by others, the realty company wrote.

"With over 2,000 feet of private sandy beach, a 20,000 sq ft mansion, four additional luxury residences, resort-level amenities, and unmatched privacy, MiddleSea is more than a home — it’s a world-class compound," the realty company wrote.

The property features a main house, and additional accommodations: a 3-bedroom beach house, a 4-bedroom gate guest house with an attached 3-bedroom apartment and an inground pool, another 3-bedroom guest house, and a maintenance house, according to Laffey International Realty.

The Centre Island mansion is located in the Town of Oyster Bay in an upscale residential area. It was originally listed under $50 million during a massive renovation, which lasted more than five years, and Laffey International Realty stated it was recently transformed by a "meticulous multimillion-dollar renovation."
The singer/songwriter was raised in Hicksville and has multiple properties on LI. He owns a home in East Hampton, purchased in 2024, Realtor.com reported, and also reportedly still owns a home in Sag Harbor, according to the New York Times. Over the summer of 2025, he closed his Oyster Bay motorcycle shop, 20th Century Cycles.
