Hive Market & Gallery announces their second annual Call to Artists: Colors of Freedom
In honor of those who have served our nation, Hive Market and Gallery is issuing a Call to Artists for their second annual "Colors of Freedom - An Artistic Tribute to Patriotism," an art exhibition celebrating the beauty of freedom and national pride. The exhibit will be on view from May 8 – July 5, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, May 9, 6 - 9 pm. The Hive is a unique shop and gallery with exclusive products, and an emphasis on nurturing local artists and makers, including local honey, art, needlecrafts, jewelry, and creating a community of kindred creators.
Artists are welcome to submit artwork that reflects through color, abstract interpretations, or symbolic imagery, how freedom and patriotism inspire their artistic journeys. The exhibit is open to all mediums (painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, photography, and more) and all styles from abstract to realism are welcome. All works must be original. This is a chance to be part of a powerful exhibition that honors our shared values through the universal language of art.

Part of the proceeds of the exhibit will benefit Blue Star Mothers, Nassau County, NY 14, a not-for-profit made up of mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster mothers and female legal guardians who have children serving in the military, guard or reserves, or children who are veterans. The organization focuses on our troops, veterans, and families of our Fallen Heroes.
“My journey as a Military MoM has inspired me to bring this exhibit to the Hive,” Laura Escobar, owner of the Hive, explains. “My daughter Arianna is an active duty Marine, and I’m very proud! I am extremely excited to see what the creative community will share!”

“This was such an inspiring show last year and we wanted to celebrate our soldiers and veterans again this year. With Armed Forces Day on May 16, Memorial Day on May 25, and of course Independence Day, July 4, this is the perfect timing for this exhibit,” said Susan Herbst, Hive’s Gallery Coordinator. “The opening reception of the show on May 9 gives us the added opportunity to invite the community to celebrate Hive’s fifth anniversary.”
This will be the Hive Market & Gallery’s fourth “call to artists”.Past calls have included “A Call to HeART, a Tribute to Cats to benefit the Ladew Foundation, and Cross Pollination a bi-county exhibit in conjunction with The Firefly Artists Gallery in Northport. The second annual “Cross Pollination”, a celebration of Bees, Birds & all that Blooms, is on view through May 5, 2026. An exhibit celebrating the importance of marine life to benefit Friends of The Bay in Oyster Bay will take place this summer.
