OYSTER BAY, NY — The local pizza shop is making its way across LI to the North Shore.

Dough & Co. Pizza will be opening an Oyster Bay location with a tentative date of March 1. The pizza shop currently has a location in Huntington, which owner Daniel Rocca opened in February of 2022.

The pizza shop will occupy the Main Street storefront previously home to Umberto’s, which closed its doors recently.

In a post shared on Instagram, Dough & Co. announced they're grateful for their LI community, who helped make the new location possible.

"Another oven is firing up, another neighborhood to serve, and the same passion in every slice," the post said.

Rocca told the Patch he spent much of his life in pizzerias – it was always his calling.

"I opened up shop at 24 years old not because it was easy, trendy, or guaranteed, but because it felt inevitable for me," he said. "I grew up watching my family in this business, and I fell in love. I saw the long hours, the early mornings, the late nights, the sacrifices that most people never notice. I also saw the pride that came from building something real with your hands, from feeding a community, from creating a place where people gather to celebrate and to connect."

As he grew older, he said that love only deepened, and he found himself blessed with an opportunity that he couldn't deny.

"My pizza is my story served on a plate," Rocca said. "It’s hard work, responsibility, pressure, and passion all rolled into one. Some days are exhausting. Some days are exciting, but every day feels meaningful. I opened Dough & Co. because it’s what I know, it’s what I love, and it’s what feels true to me. It’s my way of building a future while staying connected to my roots."

He added that he grew up on the North Shore and it's what he knows best – a beautiful place that values connection, tradition, and community.

"Long Island isn’t just known for its scenery — it’s known for the people," Rocca said. "Families, neighbors, and small businesses here matter to one another, and that’s something I deeply respect. I wanted my pizzeria to be more than a place to grab a slice; I wanted it to be a place where people feel comfortable, welcomed, and connected. Where kids come in after school, families gather on weekends, and familiar faces become part of everyday life."

For Rocca, the concept behind Dough & Co. was never about reinventing pizza — but refining it.

"I wanted to take something familiar — regular pizza — and elevate it without losing its soul," he said. "To me, that meant keeping it fresh and new, while still honoring the simplicity and purity of Italy. In Italy, pizza isn’t about excess; it’s about the respect for ingredients. We don’t try to overpower the pizza — we let it speak."

He said the goal is to strike a balance between honoring tradition and bringing a thoughtful, modern perspective to the table.

"At Dough & Co., we honor where pizza comes from while reimagining where it can go," Rocca said. "It’s tradition meeting intention. We stayed true to the roots of Italian pizza, but we weren’t afraid to bring a fresh perspective — because respecting tradition doesn’t mean standing still. It means understanding it well enough to build on it."

Over the past few years, Rocca said he has built strong connections with customers and looks forward to welcoming both new and familiar faces at the Oyster Bay location.

"Watching families come in week after week, seeing familiar faces turn into regulars, being that go-to pizzeria spot and knowing that our pizza has become part of people’s routines and memories — that means everything to me," he said.
