OYSTER BAY, NY — Seasonal beach parking stickers for Town of Oyster Bay beaches will go on sale on Saturday, May 16, a week later than originally scheduled, the town announced.

While at the beach, residents are still required to maintain proper social distancing and cover their faces, the town said. The town has restricted beach access to residents only and enacted new safety measures, including new signs and pedestrian barriers.

"The summer season is nearly upon us, and many residents are eagerly looking forward to a sun-filled fun day at our beaches," said Supervisor Joseph Saladino. "By purchasing a beach sticker in advance, residents can avoid the inevitable lines that often accompany the start of the beach season and spend more time with their feet in the sand instead. We ask residents to follow the advice of health professionals and keep their family safe by socially distancing from others while at the beach and by utilizing face coverings if you're unable to keep a safe distance from others."

Starting May 16, the beach parking stickers will be on sale every day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at TOBAY Beach, Philip B. Healey Beach at Florence Avenue in Massapequa, Tappen Beach in Glenwood Landing, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach in Oyster Bay, and John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa (beginning May 18). To purchase a beach parking sticker, residents must present their vehicle registration and bring the vehicle they plan to drive to the beach since parking stickers are placed on the vehicle at the time of purchase. Only residents may purchase beach parking stickers for Town of Oyster Bay beaches. Seasonal parking stickers are $60.

The Department of Parks will no longer be issuing beach parking stickers to those who hold a Beach Identification Card, whether you are a senior citizen, a disabled person or one who is on social security disability. Instead, each time you enter a town beach, you will be issued a free daily pass upon presenting your Beach ID. The card-holder must be in the vehicle when entering the premises. Residents aged 60+ qualify for a Senior Beach ID at the Town Clerk's office for a one-time fee of $32. Additionally, volunteer firefighters, U.S. Coast Guard members, Armed Forces service members and veterans all qualify for seasonal beach passes at reduced rates.
