Oyster Bay Student Sings at Lincoln Center

Oyster Bay High School Junior Laurel Dorfman will be performing at Lincoln Center as part of her HaZamir choral group on Sunday, March 17. She will perform two shows at 3 pm and 6:30 pm.

The HaZamir Journal reported:

The brainchild of Maestro Matthew Lazar, HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir is a network of 22 teen choral chapters across North America and Israel, involving over 300 teen singers in a highly structured music and education program. Through the medium of Jewish choral music HaZamir builds an inclusive community across denominations, and instills a lifelong commitment to Jewish culture, the Jewish people and the State of Israel. The HaZamir program includes a chamber choir, comprised of the most talented singers, a leadership development track and Parents’ Council.

Each year all HaZamir chapters learn the same repertoire at their weekly local rehearsals and then come together for an annual three-day Festival that culminates in a performance at a major concert venue such as Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center. These HaZamir performances have been nothing short of magical. They are a unique platform for presenting contemporary and classic Jewish choral music to an expanding audience.”

The HaZamir 20th Anniversary Concerts will be held at Rose Theater of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Laurel has found the preparation for this anniversary event quite challenging, but extremely exciting and rewarding.

Ticket prices for the concerts on March 17 at 3:00pm and 6:30pm are $180 for Prime Orchestra (and Center boxes), $100 for Orchestra (and 1st Tier Center boxes), $75 for Rear Orchestra and 1st Tier Side boxes, $60 for Orchestra Back Row and 1st Tier Rear and 2nd Tier boxes, and $40 for 2nd Tier Rear
