Worker Sustains Severe Wound in Bayville

Victim was flown via helicopter to area hospital, police confirm.

A worker was hospitalized Friday after sustaining a severe wound, reportedly caused by a chainsaw, fire and police officials said.

According to Bayville Fire Company officials, an alarm was reported from 15 Tradewinds Avenue Friday afternoon. Nassau County Police confirmed that a worker had sustained a severe cut.

Detectives could not confirm the extent or location of the victim's wounds. However, officers said the injury was severe enough to require medical evacuation by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

The helicopter landed in a secure area near Bayville Primary School, fire officials said.

The current status of the victim is unknown.
