Prospect Park on the Frontline

Prospect Park is front and center this month after being designated by the national City Parks Alliance as a "Frontline Park."

“We selected Prospect Park for recognition because it exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships to create and maintain urban parks that create community and make our cities sustainable and vibrant” said Catherine Nagel, Executive Director of City Parks Alliance.

“We hope that by shining the spotlight on this park that we can raise awareness about both the necessity and the promise of these kinds of partnerships to spur investment in our nation’s urban parks.”

Two “Frontline Parks” are highlighted each month to "promote and highlight inspiring examples of urban park excellence, innovation, and stewardship across the country," according to a release from the organization. The other Park recognized this month is in New Orleans, LA.

“We are honored to be selected for recognition,” says Emily Lloyd, President of the Prospect Park Alliance and Prospect Park Administrator. “Prospect Park’s success in building community here in Brooklyn is an example of all that strong partnerships can accomplish in a spectacular setting.”
