Death Of Man Found Trapped In Brooklyn Fire Deemed Homicide: Cops
Brandon Hernandez was found unconscious in a fire at the Wyckoff Gardens Houses in September. He died a month later, police said.

BOERUM HILL, BROOKLYN — Police have deemed the death of a man who was found trapped in a fire at the Wyckoff Garden Houses a homicide.
Firefighters found 21-year-old Brandon Hernandez inside the first floor apartment of a Warren Street building at the housing complex after putting out a fire there on Sept. 12, police said.
Hernandez, who was unconscious and unresponsive, was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He was pronounced dead on Oct. 20, police said.

Fire marshals ultimately determined the fire was intentionally set, police told the Daily News.
As of Wednesday there have been no arrests.

The death is only the second homicide in the 78th Precinct in the last two years, according to NYPD statistics, though there was recently another killing in Boerum Hill in the neighboring 84th Precinct.
