Debris On Track Halts F Train Service In Brooklyn: MTA

Queens-bound service has stopped on the F line as crews remove debris found on the Neptune Avenue station tracks.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Debris found on the tracks at the Neptune Avenue station has temporarily stopped F train service in Brooklyn, the MTA said Friday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., MTA officials announced that Jamaica-bound F trains were delayed because a train's brakes were automatically activated at Neptune Avenue. Several minutes later, officials said the brake activation occurred because of debris found on the tracks.

As of 1:42 p.m., there was no Jamaica-bound F train service in Brooklyn, MTA said. Crews were working to turn off power at the Neptune Station so that they could remove the debris. The debris were removed by about 2:30 p.m., but MTA officials said to still expect delays as service to the line was resumed.

Jamaica-bound F trains were running on the D line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to Broadway-Lafayette, MTA said. Riders should expect delays in F and D trains.

Delays were compounded several minutes after service resumed, too, by signal problems at the Jamaica station, MTA officials said around 2:40 p.m.
