Encantados Under the Sea: Los Encantados EP Release Party

There are three elements that best characterize Los Encantados: superior musical ability, their seductiveness and love of sex (often resulting in illegitimate children), and their attraction to parties. Despite the fact that the Encante where they come from is supposed to be a utopia full of wealth and without pain or death, the Encantados crave the pleasures and hardships of the human world.

"There are many garages in America. There was a particular one full of sweat and old radio. It housed R&B tunes, surf rock, and punky doo wop. It held a lot of noise and a lot of fun. It sheltered a particular brand of liberation, something quintissentially American and cocky, but also blissfully unaware of itself. It contained a band that started out with nothing but Ramones covers and turned into something else fairly rapidly. Something comprised of four very good friends having a very good time and calling the whole party Oh No and the Tiger Pit."

Dead Stars, made up of cousins Jeff and Jaye Moore and long-time friend John Watterberg, came together in 2008 and quickly developed a distinct sound combining loud, fuzzed-out guitars with catchy, infectious hooks. The band has played countless shows around New York, performed at 2011's SXSW and CMJ festivals, and been included in The Deli Magazine's "Best Emerging Artists". 2012 will see the band touring, releasing the new 'I Get By' 7", and hard at work finishing up their next full-length album.
