Our Midnight Acoustic Series
MAFA DIABATE and SAM DICKEY first met in Bamako, Mali in 2010. When Mafa moved to New York a year later, they began collaborating in many different contexts. This is the first duo show for the two, both of whom play ngoni (a traditional West African lute) in addition to guitar. Together they explore traditional repertoire from the Maninka and Bambara traditions with youthful energy and a modern perspective.
