Brooklyn Players Community Musical Theater presents INTO THE WOODS after its first successful production last April of URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL. Performances are April 20 - April 29 with evening performances at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays, and a Sunday matinee at 3:00 p.m. at Spoke the Hub's Third Floor Performance Space at the Gowanus Arts Building at 295 Douglass Street between Third and Fourth Avenues.
The humor and story of INTO THE WOODS is aimed at both adult and young audiences, approximately 8 years old and up, as is part of BPCMT's mission.
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's INTO THE WOODS intertwines the plots of several well-known Grimm fairy tales into a more original story involving a Baker and his Wife in their quest to have a child. The main characters are also taken from the stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella. The show is funny as well as moving as its characters make their way through their individual and group journeys. Many laughs and tears.
Brooklyn Players Community Musical Theater was created when Corinne Goodman noticed how difficult it can be for people who are not necessarily career drama folks to find a way to perform. At BPCMT, a non-traditionally cast and diverse group of adults with a range of experience and skill can support each other, grow as performers, and put on a show with passion and heart. Many audience members commented last year on how surprised they were at the high quality of our production.
Come and enjoy this intimate staging of a classic Broadway musical in an intimate 58 seat theater.
