9pm - Mara Measor
Growing up in a rural Hong Kong village, Mara’s unique upbringing contributed to her tender and enchanting style. As a teenager, Mara seized every opportunity she could get to serenade the world. In between traveling to South Korea for the Choir Olympics and performing at the enormous Hong Kong Convention Center, she sang at open mics, fundraising events and weddings.
At 19, Mara worked for a year in Ethiopia, where she fell in love with an Ethiopian church choir and the cathartic process of songwriting. Here, in the privacy of a quiet life far from home, Mara developed her both sweetly familiar and inexplicably unique style. By the time she left Africa to pursue acting in New York, she had written over 30 songs, one of which her choir had sung and recorded on their album.

At the end of her studies in the NYU acting program, Mara performed her original song “Something More” at Joe’s Pub in New York. Soon after, she was contacted by Emmy Award-winning producer and composer Jamie Lawrence. They are currently recording their first official album, which combines Mara’s smooth voice, eclectic taste, and lyrical sensibility with Jamie’s energetic beats and subtle harmonies.
Mara has performed in NY venues such as Daly's Pub, Gizzi's Lounge and Bitter End.
