Toronto-born, New York-based saxophonist and composer Andrew Rathbun is at the forefront of a new generation of jazz innovators. As a saxophonist he has recorded or performed with Luciana Souza, Eddie Gomez, John Abercrombie, Reggie Workman, Ingrid Jensen, Kenny Wheeler, and many more. His lyrical, harmonically complex, and formally ambitious compositions have been performed by the Danish Radio Jazz Orchestra, the Dave Liebman Big Band, the Fresh Sound New Talent Jazz Orchestra, the Metropole Orchestra, and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. Using some of the more creative young musicians in New York, his band performs Andrew original works including extended suites utilizing texts by Canadian author Margaret Atwood.
